Elizabeth
has been a doula for several years. She combines her work as
a massage therapist with energy balancing and yoga
principles to help women and their partners have a positive
birth experience.
Doula
is a Greek word meaning a
woman who serves. She is usually older, has experienced
childbirth herself, and now accompanies a younger woman in
labor to help insure a positive and transformative birth
experience. The pregnant woman's needs are the doula's
priority. A doula works for the client, not a care provider
or hospital. A doula does not perform clinical tasks such as
blood pressure or fetal heart rate monitoring; she does
provide physical, emotional, and educational support for
communication with the medical staff.

Elizabeth’s
doula
philosophy
. . .
-
Birth has become
more of a medical procedure than an experience of
trusting the body's natural process.
-
Elizabeth believes
labor and birth is a sacred time for a woman, a
transition from being an individual to becoming a
mother
-
Elizabeth believes
it takes a brave woman to have a natural birth and a
brave woman to have an epidural. They are different
experiences. Every woman should have a positive
experience

Elizabeth’s
doula
philosophy
. . .
-
Elizabeth helps a
woman prepare herself
physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually
to trust the process of birth. It will be perfect as
it should be.
-
Elizabeth works
with the doctor and nurses of your choice in a team
effort to enhance a positive birth experience.
Maintaining a peaceful and positive atmosphere
around the laboring woman enhances the birth
process.
-
As a doula
Elizabeth helps a woman make decisions by providing
information and clarifying choices; she does not
make decisions for a woman and her partner.
